It came in the mail today!!! The May issue of Elle Girl that I'm in! Here's what the cover looks like:

I was too overwhelmed to face it in person, so I didn't unwrap it from the plastic for several minutes, I just tried to forget about it and block it out. I don't know why. That's probably not a real normal response. I think it's because it's so weird to me that they'd put something I made in there. Also, to me fashion zines have more meaning than the average person off the street b/c I want to work at one and I've been devouring the things since I was 11. I was a fan and subscriber of this particular magazine before I ever dreamed of having a mention in it. So it's a strange feeling, but I'm awfully glad they put it in! =)

Here it is...it's on page 54.

This is the text: They really edited my quotes big time, but at least it makes me sound like I'm into pop culture and quite artsy.

When 19-year-old Ohio bag designer Adrianne Lee needs inspiration , she turns to pop culture. 'I love The Virgin Suicides, so I'll think about what type of bag the Lisbon sisters would like, ' she explains. 'Or I listen to music and doodle the mood it creates.' The muse for this sack (above)? 'I saw her in the library--she's from a '60s magazine ad!' "

I hope one of the stupid F.I.T. admission officers sees that, and is sorry.

Anyways, people ask me how it happened that I got in this. To be honest all I did was out of the blue as a joke almost, i e-mailed the magazine w/ a link to my website. I didn't think they'd take the time of day to look at it. 2 weeks later an editor, Melissa Walker, wrote and said she loved my stuff and asked me to send in samples to be photographed. I sent her 3 and the one they chose to use was actually my least fav and I threw it in last mintue b-4 I mailed off the package. That was back in Dec, so this has been a long wait! Just goes to show it doesn't hurt to try.

Some of you knew about the Teen Vogue thing too. I think I've officially decided that fell through. What happened with that is Alison Griffin, editor at Teen Vogue, accidently ran accross my site b/c it had a link to minnetonka moccasins (she was doing a feature on moccasins at the time). Anyways, she asked me to send in pics of me in my favorite outfits and w/ my bags for a thing they do on "real girls" under age 21 w/ unique style. I did, but I never heard back . I think it may be b/c I didn't have a way to burn them onto a cd and I had to use crappy floppy disks (several) so it probably was too annoying for them to deal with. Maybe I'll try again sometime. :)
